Our Children Our Future Tutoring Program

An Exciting Service Opportunity - Join in the Fun!
The UTHSC College of Medicine and the Memphis City Schools want you to help make difference in a child's life. Join us for another great year of helping the Memphis City Schools students in our UTHSC area. The Office of Medical Education in the College of Medicine has teamed with the Memphis City Schools' tutoring program Our Children Our Future to train tutors for students in both math and reading again this year. See the details below on how to join this meaningful venture.
Background information
During the 2008-2009 school year, a small group of dedicated UTHSC employees trained with Our Children Our Future to help struggling reading and math students at Vance Middle School. Last year was a great success, with most of the tutors planning to return again this year. Additionally, this year we will provide tutors for LaRose Elementary School. Come join this fun and enriching experience!
Volunteer Hours are to be done on your lunch hour or by approved annual leave from your supervisor.
For further information, please email TaJuana Redmond in the Office of Medical Education.
Tutoring Orientations:
Each training session will be 3 hours and employees will receive 3 hours of HR128 credit for the one time training per semester in either reading or math.
